Abstract

Introduction: In this article we intend to understand the importance of Johan Galtung in the construction of different concepts of peace (negative and positive) and violence (direct, structural and cultural), and his immediacy to create the concept of neutral peace. Our intention is to put order in the lack of consensus on the dispersion of the concept of peace within the Peace Research (Peace Research) that poses a problem for us to concrete in an epistemological, ontological and methodological way, in addition, of the sociopolitical and axiology in Studies for Peace. Our objective is to create an interdisciplinary and integrative dialogue that aims to synthesize the basic definitions associated with peace and the construction of Culture of Peace.

Method: The methodology used is a study and descriptive analysis of the evolution of Studies for Peace in the last three years that we have had contact with the figure and work of Johan Galtung.

Results: This investigation results in the construction of a cartography about peace that has become a mosaic to search for mechanisms of struggle against violence and the transformation of conflicts that seek peace. We have defined four types of peace, which build a space of peace and allow us to have the possibility of fighting for a fairer and more durable world. At times we have been classified in an evolution in different generations: First generation: negative, positive and neutral peace; second generation: social, Gaya and inner peace; third generation: multi-inter and transcultural peace; and fourth generation: vulnerable, sustainable and resilient peace. Without forgetting hybrid peace and world peace.

Conclusions: We highlight the importance of Johan Galtung as a pioneer in Studies for Peace. What is important is that as our families we continue to build spaces of peace, through building ‘cultural disarmament’ and introducing a new scale of values ??within society.
