Introduction: An increase in crimes in cyberspace is being observed worldwide, caused by the expansion of new communication and information technologies accompanied by improvements in Internet access. Women and girls are the most affected when it comes to sexual violence in the digital space.
Method: The objective of this article focuses on exposing the new forms of violence against women constituted in the digital space. To do this, firstly the various types of violence carried out on the Internet are explained and secondly statistical data on crimes obtained in Spain through statistical sources are provided. The methodology used is descriptive and analytical through documentary collection of texts and statistics.
Results: The results point to an increase in all types of cyber violence indicated, confirming the existence of a continuum of violence against women between offline and online spaces that evidence the existence of structural violence manifested in patriarchy.
Conclusions: Action by the state is encouraged in the control of platforms by establishing appropriate regulations, as well as digital education that raises awareness among the entire population, but especially among youth, if we want to ensure that the digital space is a space of peace and free of violence.
